Internet Fraud : Top complaint categories

The Internet is an easy-to-use and highly versatile way to perpetrate crimes, as was made evident by the more than 200,000 complaints filed in last year (2007). Complainants said they lost $198.4 million in the process, the highest total ever.

These complaints were composed of many different fraud types such as auction fraud, non-delivery, and credit/debit card fraud, as well as non-fraudulent complaints, such as computer intrusions, spam/unsolicited e-mail, and child pornography.
